Peacemaker: A Legend from the Wild West
The Peacemaker revolver, also known as the Single Action Army (SAA), was designed by Samuel Colt in 1873. It quickly became popular and was used by both the US Army and civilians. Its popularity was enhanced by the fact that it used the same ammunition as the Winchester M1873 rifle, making it a practical weapon in the old North American West.
The revolver had many nicknames, including Frontier and Widowmaker, reflecting its influence and reputation. It has also been mythified in Western films from the 40s and 50s, where it was often associated with big stars like John Wayne and Gary Cooper. Even historical figures like Roosevelt and George S. Patton had their own Peacemakers.
